Based on feedback acquired from the Paris-Dakar factory racer DR-Z, its production version dubbed "DR800S BIG" had Suzuki's latest technologies such as SACS and twin-balancer shafts. One-piece design of engine shroud, big fuel tank and front fender was distinctive for this big off-roader.
